Definitions
In these Terms:
- "Service" refers to the platform, website, software, AI chatbot, and all related content and functionality provided under "The Permanent Residents Guide to the Galaxy."

- "Gustave" refers to our AI assistant, powered by third-party language models.
- "User Content" means any information, documents, images, or messages submitted to the Service by the User.
- "AI Output" means any response or content generated by the Service in response to User input.

1. Introduction
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you") and The Permanent Residents Guide Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), governing your access to and use of the digital services, software platform, and informational tools provided under the brand "The Permanent Residents Guide to the Galaxy" (the "Service").
By registering for an account, subscribing, accessing, or using any part of the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
These Terms include important disclaimers and limitations of liability and describe your responsibilities and rights. We may update these Terms from time to time; material changes will be communicated to you in advance. The assistant "Gustave" is powered by large language models developed by Anthropic, which respond to user inputs based on broad public data and structured prompt logic.

3. Eligibility
To use the Service, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age;
- Have the legal capacity to enter into contracts;
- Not be barred from accessing digital services under any applicable law.
By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet these criteria and that any information you provide is accurate and complete.
4. Account and Access
You may create an account to access certain features of the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for any activity that occurs under your account.
We may suspend or terminate access to your account at our discretion for violations of these Terms, suspected fraudulent use, or threats to system integrity.
5. Subscription and Fees
5.1 Payment Structure
The Service is provided on a subscription basis. The standard pricing is $15 CAD per month, billed in advance. Promotional pricing or discount codes may be offered periodically.
5.2 Auto-Renewal and Cancellation
Your subscription will automatically renew each billing period unless you cancel via your account dashboard. Cancellation will apply to the next billing cycle. No refunds are provided for partial months.
5.3 No Refunds
Unless otherwise required by applicable law, fees paid are non-refundable. All prices are inclusive of taxes unless explicitly stated.
5.4 Payment Processing
We use third-party providers to process payments securely. You agree to comply with their terms and privacy policies. We do not store full payment credentials.
6. User Content
6.1 Ownership and Responsibility
You may upload documents, images, and other content ("User Content") in connection with your use of the Service. You retain all ownership rights in your User Content.
You represent and warrant that:
- You have all necessary rights to provide the User Content;
- Your content does not infringe the rights of any third party;
- Your content complies with these Terms and applicable law.
6.2 Licence Grant
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use, store, process, and transmit your User Content solely to:
- Provide AI-generated responses;
- Display your content to you within the Service;
- Maintain logs for operational and safety purposes;
- Improve service performance through anonymised analysis.
We do not use your content to train AI models, nor do we share it publicly unless you explicitly choose to do so.
6.3 Deletion and Retention
You may delete your content or close your account at any time. Upon deletion:
- Your content is removed from active systems within 14 days;
- Limited metadata may be retained for compliance and abuse monitoring purposes.

If you are a resident of Canada and have a privacy-related concern, you may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) at www.priv.gc.ca.
By using the Service, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We endeavour to ensure this processing meets the requirements of both UK and Canadian privacy frameworks.
8. AI-Generated Content
8.1 Limitations
AI-generated responses:
- Are probabilistic outputs based on pattern prediction;
- May reflect generalised assumptions;
- Can include outdated or incorrect information.
8.2 No Reliance
You may not rely on Gustave's responses to:
- Make legal or immigration decisions;
- File government applications;
- Replace independent legal advice.
You are solely responsible for verifying any information provided and determining its suitability for your needs.
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation;
- Harass, threaten, defame, or abuse any person or group;
- Transmit offensive, discriminatory, or illegal content;
- Misrepresent your identity or impersonate others;
- Circumvent or disable access controls or system protections.
We reserve the right to investigate and suspend accounts involved in violations of this policy.
10. Intellectual Property
All rights in the Service (excluding User Content), including but not limited to the codebase, AI prompts, visual design, logos, and branding elements, are owned by or licensed to us.
You may not:
- Reproduce, modify, or distribute the Service or its content without prior written consent;
- Use our trademarks without permission;
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or access source code.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:
- The accuracy or usefulness of AI-generated responses;
- Continuous, error-free availability;
- That the Service will meet your expectations or specific needs.
Use of the Service is at your own risk.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for:
- Indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages;
- Loss of data, income, or goodwill;
- Errors or omissions in any AI-generated content.
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the preceding 90 days.
Some jurisdictions may not allow these limitations; in such cases, liability is limited to the minimum extent permitted.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Permanent Residents Guide Ltd, its officers, directors, employees, and affiliates from any claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses arising from:
- Your use or misuse of the Service;
- Your User Content;
- Your breach of these Terms or applicable law.
14. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you:
- Have violated these Terms;
- Pose a risk to the security or integrity of the Service;
- Engage in conduct that could cause legal liability.
Termination does not affect accrued rights or obligations.
15. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
You agree that the courts of London, United Kingdom shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms.
16. Beta and Experimental Features
Certain parts of the Service may be labeled as beta, preview, or experimental. These features are offered "as-is," may be incomplete or unstable, and may change or be removed at any time without notice. We disclaim any liability arising from your use of such features.
17. Service Availability and Downtime
We aim to provide a reliable Service, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability. Planned maintenance, updates, or technical issues may temporarily affect access. We reserve the right to suspend or modify the Service without liability for any interruption or loss of access.
18. Third-Party Services and Dependencies
The Service depends on Third-Party Services, including Anthropic (AI model provider), payment gateways, and cloud infrastructure. We are not liable for failures, delays, or data loss caused by such third parties, nor for their terms, policies, or data practices.
19. Feedback and Suggestions
If you submit any suggestions, comments, or feedback regarding the Service, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide licence to use, reproduce, modify, or implement them in any manner, without compensation or obligation to you.
20. Children's Privacy / COPPA Notice
The Service is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we discover that we have collected data from a child without verifiable parental consent, we will delete it promptly.
21. Compliance with Local Laws
You are responsible for complying with all laws applicable to your jurisdiction when using the Service, including local data protection, export control, and immigration laws. This includes, where applicable, Canadian federal and provincial privacy laws such as PIPEDA and Quebec's Law 25. We do not guarantee that the Service complies with laws outside the United Kingdom and Canada.
22. Modifications to the Service
We may add, change, or remove features, functionality, or content at any time, without prior notice. These changes may affect existing functionality or access to stored data. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of such changes.

While stylistically inspired by the narrative voice and humour found in the works of Douglas Adams, particularly The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, this Service is an independent creation and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the estate of Douglas Adams or any related rights holders.
All references are made respectfully and in homage to the legacy of his work.
